Although railroads are no longer a part of everyday life in America, their impact can still be felt in every corner of the nation, even Door County. During the program Lettenberger will shine some light into the various corners of the country. Along the way he’ll touch on some interesting aspects of railroad development on the national, state and local levels. He will also share how railroads influenced who settled our communities and the potential origin of the Wisconsin-Illinois rivalry.

Lettenberger is the National Railroad Museum’s education director and subject matter specialist. He is a frequent presenter on historical and contemporary railroad subjects in a variety of venues. He has recorded programs with the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, C-Span, South Korean Public Television, Wisconsin Public Television and Milwaukee Public Television. Annually, he works with more than 7,500 students and adults for the Museum’s educational programming.

St. John Bosco School will serve a family-style dinner of rainbow Jell-O salad, baked chicken and ham, mashed potatoes, rolls, dessert and coffee. The dinner and program fee for guests is $22 and $18 for Society members. For reservations, mail a check to Door County Historical Society, PO Box 71, Sturgeon Bay 54235, by April 15.
