“Women with Spirit” Take the Stage at Peg Egan PAC

Sue Demel

Four female national touring artists will take the stage at the Peg Egan Performing Arts Center for the “Women With Spirit” concert on July 1 at 7 pm. The performers include Julie Gold, Karen Savoca, Sue Demel and Dorothy Scott.

Gold is a Grammy award-winning songwriter best known for Bette Midler’s version of her song “From a Distance,” which won the Grammy for Song of the Year in 1991.

Savoca’s is making an impression on the contemporary folk scene. Playing conga and hand percussion, Savoca infuses the music with her love of soul, R&B, and world rhythms.

Demel explodes the pre-conceived notions of harmony singing. As a founding and current member of folk trio Sons of the Never Wrong, she tours nationally, performing original, acoustic music. Demel is also a seasoned back-up vocalist featured on over 50 CDs.

Scott flows effortlessly between genres achieving popularity in pop, folk, blues and alternative. Her live performance is passionate and real, fierce and funny, outspoken and vulnerable.

The opening act for the “Women With Spirit” Concert features Ministry Door County Children’s Choir.

The Peg Egan PAC is located on Church Street in Egg Harbor and the concerts are free and open to the general public. In case of rain, all concerts are held at the Calvary Methodist Church, 4650 County Rd E, Egg Harbor.
