The Women’s Fund of Door County recently announced recipients of the latest round of grants and the results of the Lutsey Family Foundation Challenge. The challenge offered a donation of $25,000 if the Women’s Fund could raise a matching amount by Dec. 31.

Women’s Fund supporters not only met the challenge, but donated $55,570.85 in the allotted time period.

Tom Lutsey, speaking on behalf of his wife Sharon and their foundation, said, “My father taught me how to give. Dad said, ‘Give to the people who can’t help themselves.’”

The fall 2012 grant recipients included: Christ Child Society of Door County, the Young Adult Parent Support (YAPS) Program, Door County Medical Center Foundation’s Breast Feeding Work Group, HELP of Door County’s Transitional Living Program, and to Sevastopol School District to fund attendance at a conference on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) aimed at introducing 7th and 8th grade girls to STEM opportunities.
