Wood Turner Shares Insights

Lou Williams, owner of Woods by Williams, will share insights on his craftsmanship during his appearance from 10 am – 4 pm Saturday, July 25, at Door County Interiors & Design.

Williams, who established his wood turning studio in Sturgeon Bay in 2003, makes uniquely shaped vases, bowls and platters on a lathe. His collection of work – some rustic and some elegant – includes pieces made from spalted wood, apple, poplar, cherry and maple.

Williams will exhibit art in various stages of completion and made from vast wood species. His day-long appearance will feature short talks on how the wood turner finishes his decorative pieces at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm.

“I will discuss how you should think about a piece of wood for art,” said Williams. Continuing, “This is very exciting, and I am looking forward to the talks and showing people the work. It is something they may not know much about.”

Door County Interiors & Design sells Williams’ art year round. The vases, bowls and platters suit all decorating styles from contemporary to arts and crafts and transitional, according to Carol Trimberger of Door County Interiors & Design.
