Singer/songwriter Al Rose and solo guitarist Maury Smith will take the Woodwalk Gallery stage on Friday, July 17 at 7 pm.
Rose hails from Chicago, and has been called “a striking singer/songwriter with a unique and powerful vision.” His new CD, My First Posthumous Release, is now available. His previous albums have received extensive airplay on AAA and Americana stations throughout the United States. The Chicago Tribune has called Rose’s performances “one audaciously entertaining ride.”
Rose’s music is flexibly powerful, from dada gospel to caffeinated pick; explosive rhythm to sparest hush; swampy improv groove to country shine.
His faithful and brilliant solo guitarist Maury Smith will again add his musical touch to Rose’s already distinct guitar style and add harmonies to Rose’s voice.
Jeanne Kuhns will open for the show, borrowing Maury Smith for a bit. Smith lent his creative input and guitar playing to Kuhns’ original songs on her new CD, Ghost Ranch.
Desserts by Sweetie Pies of Fish Creek, snacks, and beverages coolers will be available for purchase. Tickets are $10, and reservations are welcome.
