Woodwalk Concert Series Kicks Off

Jeanne Kuhns’ Woodwalk Concert Series kicks off the 2009 season with Jenny and Robin Bienemann, June 19, and Chris Irwin and Friends, June 26!

Previously held at the Town Hall Bakery, Jeanne Kuhns’ Concert Series has crossed the peninsula to Woodwalk Events Barn and Gallery to accommodate the ever-growing following of Kuhns’ series and the outstanding musicians who perform for the series each year.

Jenny and Robin Bienemann of Chicago start off the series June 19 with Jenny’s hip guitar riffs, vocal overlays and idiosyncratic pacing, and Robin’s god-like guitar playing and classic ‘30s style voice. With edgy, sharp-witted yet surprisingly sweet original songs, the duo is animated and endearing.

Then on June 26, Chris Irwin is back in the county to perform originals, in an eclectic and excellent mix of bluegrass and folk. The Tennessee native is well known in Door County as a veteran of 13 American Folklore Theater productions. Irwin will be joined by Lynn Gudmundsen, Jeanne Kuhns, Pat Palmer and others.

This year’s venue change to Woodwalk brings increased seating in a comfortable restored barn surrounded by Margaret Lockwood’s paintings, as well as the art of other regional artists. Desserts by Sweetie Pies of Fish Creek, snacks, and beer and wine coolers will be available for purchase, or patrons may bring their own wine. All shows start at 7 pm on Fridays and are $10 at the door.

Woodwalk is located one mile west of Highway 42 at 6746 County Road G, between Egg Harbor and Carlsville. For more information call 920.868.2912 or 920.495.2928, or check out http://www.woodwalkgallery.com and http://www.jeannekuhns.com for a full list of summer concerts.
