Woodwalk Gallery Opens with “Margaret and David”

“The Light of Day” by Margaret Lockwood

Woodwalk Gallery opens for the season with “Margaret and David,” an exhibit featuring new works by Margaret Lockwood and David Kwasny. These artists have unconnected histories, work in different media and see the world through very different eyes. The exhibit highlights contrasts, artistic vision and the processes that make an artist an artist.

Lockwood has created an iconic body of easily recognized work by returning to familiar themes and settings. Her trees, clouds and landscapes relate intimately to the natural spaces of Door County.

Kwasny assembles bits and pieces of minutia to create whimsical, bizarre, thought-provoking works that are puzzles of discovery. Truly an “outsider” artist, Kwasny’s work has a feeling of a visionary at work and play.

Woodwalk Gallery opens with a public reception on May 27 from 4 – 6 pm and will be followed by a picnic dinner and CD release party for Marybeth Mattson’s Relative Hunger. The picnic dinner includes a make-your-own Chicago-style hot dog from 6 – 6:30 pm. Following the CD release party, Mattson will be joined onstage by guest artists including Seth Raddatz, Jeanne Kuhns, and Patrick Palmer. The $15 cover includes the picnic dinner.

Woodwalk Gallery is located at 6746 County Road G, south of Egg Harbor, just off Highway 42. For more information call 920.868.2912.
