World Marketplace opens its summer season on June 27, 4 – 7 pm, at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church as part of the annual Olde Ellison Bay Days celebration. The marketplace features fairly traded items from around the world, and works to support artisans and farmers in parts of the world where poverty and natural disaster continue to take their toll.

This year the marketplace helped to support the work of Wendy Carpenter, Door County weaver, in Guatemala. Working with women in local communities in that country, Carpenter created colorful jackets, yoga bags and eyeglass holders.

The Marketplace also features work from several cooperatives including Serrv, Mayaworks, Word Made Flesh and Equal Exchange.
