WPT to Film Birch Creek Performance in Door County

In July 2010, Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) technical staff and production crew visited the Birch Creek campus near Egg Harbor. With Birch Creek Executive Director Kaye Wagner and Sound Engineer Travis Garrison as guides, WPT staff inspected, measured, photographed, and asked questions relative to Birch Creek’s historic performance barn, lighting and recording equipment, natural acoustics, students and concerts. August 12, WPT will return to Birch Creek with its new truck to videotape the evening concert, “Still Unforgettable.”

WPT’s new 36-foot mobile-production truck has replaced a predecessor dating from 1983. Representing the station’s final step into HD production, its use at Birch Creek signals the expansion of WPT’s already robust cultural and arts programming. Birch Creek’s concert will be broadcast on WPT at a later date throughout Wisconsin’s communities.

“As we look into the future, we are excited by new opportunities to educate, inform and engage Wisconsin communities,” wrote James Steinbach, director of WPT. “In the coming year, our new mobile production truck will expand our coverage of the state’s arts and culture.”

Birch Creek is located 3 miles east of Egg Harbor on County Highway E. Ticket prices are $29 for adults, $10 for students and $6 for children. Tickets are available by calling 920.868.3763. Reservations are recommended.
