Write On Announces Ekphrastic Writing Residency, Scholarship

Write On, Door County announces the inaugural Dick Scuglik Memorial Residency and Scholarship, to be awarded to a poet or other writer who has a demonstrated ability and interest in ekphrastic writing. A committee of writers will select one individual for the weeklong residency, to be held June 14-21.

The recipient will be paired with a Door County visual artist, with whom the writer will exchange work, and they will create new work in response. During the residency, the writer and artist will also participate in a public event where the new work will be shared and the creative process will be discussed.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old. The contest is open to both published and unpublished writers who have a demonstrated ability and interest in ekphrasis. The application-submission deadline is Dec. 31, 12 pm.
