Write On Announces 2022 Events

Write On, Door County announced a 2022 slate of conferences and events featuring award-winning authors, educators and speakers.

The calendar includes three new themed conferences: Health and Healing, Young Writers, and Children’s Literature. Registration for conferences and select classes is open now.

“It’s important to understand what an incredible thing this is for our community,” said Artistic Director Jerod Santek. “Write On, Door County is bringing dozens of some of the most celebrated writers in the country to our community.”

The first conference of 2022 will be the Young Writers Conference. Intended for students of middle school and high school age, it features more than a dozen revered writers whose work spans songwriting, video games, play writing, nonfiction, journalism, fiction and poetry; writing professors; award-winning children’s author John Coy; and Wisconsin Poet Laureate Dasha Kelly Hamilton.

Write On will also host a Health and Healing Conference May 13-15, the Washington Island Literary Festival in September, and a Children’s Literature Conference in October for those who want to write for young readers.

Master classes for advanced writers who are working on book-length projects are also coming up. The first is Telling the Truth: Memoir to Fiction, led by Minnesota Book Award winner Diane Wilson, who will explore the lines between truth and fiction. The weeklong session will begin Jan. 24.
