WSGA Directors Cup at Horseshoe Bay

The Wisconsin State Golf Association (WSGA) will be coming to Horseshoe Bay Golf Club in Egg Harbor on Monday, September 12 and Tuesday, September 13.

Horseshoe Bay will be hosting the Directors Cup sponsored by Ashworth. Round one on Monday will be a shotgun start at 12:45 pm and round two on Tuesday will be tee times starting at 7:45 am.

The Directors Cup is a two-day, 36-hole golf tournament open to all amateurs 25 years of age or older, who are residents of Wisconsin or affiliated to a member club, and have a handicap that does not exceed 11.4.

“This is the third time in the last seven years we’ve hosted a WSGA major and we are excited to partner with the WSGA,” Horseshoe Golf Club Director of Golf Brian Baus noted on the championship coming to Horseshoe Bay. The two other majors Horseshoe Bay has hosted were the State Junior Boys presented by Culvers in 2004 and Senior Amateur Championship in 2009.

“The course is in amazing shape and we expect it to hold up well,” said Baus. “The winner should be challenged.”

Many of the states best amateur’s are slated to play such as Bob Gregorski from Menesha, Bob Pyle of Green Bay, and Todd Westrich of Green Bay.

Local golfers participating include: Bob Larsen of Idlewild Golf Course, Robert McGinnis of Horseshoe Bay Golf Club, and Mark Basch of The Orchards.

Admission to the event is free.
