Yamato Brings the Beat to Door Community Auditorium

Drum ensemble plays March 29

One of the most unusual performances of the year is coming to the Door Community Auditorium on March 29. That’s when the Yamato drummers will take the stage for a stunning auditory experience.

From their home base in Asuka Village, Japan, Yamato travels the world, sharing the sound of Japan’s Wadaiko drums, which are made of animal skin and ancient trees – some 400 years old. To the members of Yamato, the drums reflect the center of life and the source of power that pulsates within the human body.

Now in their 30th year of intense touring and performing, the troupe has given more than 4,000 performances in 54 countries.

Yamato will perform March 29, 7 pm, after giving two performances earlier in the day for students at Gibraltar School. Tickets for the evening performance ($28-$48) and student matinee ($4 for students and chaperones) are available. Make reservations in advance (recommended) at dcauditorium.org, by calling 920.868.2728 or at the box office, 3926 Hwy 42 in Fish Creek.
