Year in Review: Thumbs Up

To the Door/Kewaunee Business & Education Partnership for creating innovative educational opportunities such as the High School Home Construction Program and the new mobile technology training lab.

To the Door Community Auditorium for taking programming risks. Artists like Jeff Tweedy, the Indigo Girls, Ruthie Foster and Howard Fishman carried no guarantees, but organizations don’t grow and reputations aren’t made by playing it safe.

To a community that keeps on giving. In efforts large and small, Door County residents find ways to give to those facing unfortunate health issues like those of Randy Pluff, Bo Johnson, Mike Kaye, and many more. In times of need, peninsula businesses and residents never have empty pockets.

To the Village of Egg Harbor for being a leader in municipal sustainability. Whether it’s parking lots, the new beach, the marina, or walking trails, the village has incorporated green practices to manage runoff and preserve its environment as it grows.

To all the restaurants that have sought local sourcing with their menus and taken dining in the Door a step forward. Milwaukee, Chicago and Madison residents have come to expect creativity and healthy options even from their bar food, and steps in the locavore direction will help keep Door County on the map.
