Yearlong Fun for Birders

A fun bird-recognition game for all bird lovers is coming in January. 

At the beginning of each month, images of a common bird – taken by avid bird photographer John C. Walch – will be posted on the Bird City Algoma Facebook page, along with details about the bird’s common and scientific names, where and when to spot it, a physical description and interesting characteristics.

When you spot a “bird of the month,” submit a photo (that’s clear and recognizable), along with the location and other interesting information about your sighting, to [email protected]. At the end of 2023, those who have spotted, photographed and submitted all 12 birds will receive a prize from the Bird City Committee. Photos submitted from January to May may also be displayed during the annual Bird City Celebration set for May 17, 2023.
