YMCA Strivers Gymnastics Team Earn Gold

The Door County YMCA Strivers Gymnastic Team competed in the 10-team Snowflake Invitational hosted by the Sheboygan YMCA on Feb. 1-2. The Strivers Silver and Gold levels both captured a third-place team trophy.

Gymnasts are awarded based on level and their age within that level. The top five individual Strivers medalists were: 

Level 1

• Shalynn Asher: third on floor, fifth on bars and all-around (AA)

• Estelle Duerst: third on AA and vault, fourth on beam, fifth on bars

Level 4

• Sophia Sternard: third on AA and bars, second on beam

Level 6

• Daylia Sund: fourth on AA and floor, second on beam

Level 7

• MaKiala McCambridge: first on vault and floor, third on AA, fourth on beam

Excel Silver

• Jozlynn Burlo: first on AA, floor and vault; third on bars

• Alexa Jimenez-Seyfer: third on vault

• Shylee Asher: fourth on vault, fifth on floor

• Madison Voight: fourth on vault, fifth on floor

Excel Gold

• Abby DeClark: first on beam, third on AA, fifth on vault

• Amira Anschutz: second on beam and floor, fifth on AA

• Lauren Pratt: fifth on beam

• Anna Gallardo-Ibarra: third on bars, fourth on floor, fifth on AA

• Taylor Newton: fourth on bars

Nikki Pollman, Amy Gamble and Gerritt DeJonge coached the team. 

The Strivers will host their annual home meet Feb. 29, 8 am – 8 pm; and March 1, 8 am – 4 pm.
