Youth Camps Contribute to Story and Public Art

NatureCreates! Camps begin at Woodwalk Gallery on July 24 and will continue daily through July 27. An unveiling celebration and interactive “story time” will culminate the week’s events at 3 pm on July 27.

NatureCreates! Camps are offered in daylong sessions and minicamps for ages 6 – 10 and 11 – 14. Activities include expressive movement, creativity games and environmental sculpture.

As part of the larger “Legend Agenda” public project, children will be asked, “What is possible?” and create two magic wands. One wand will be used in choreography, and go home with each participant. Another wand will be used to create a sculpture called “Wanda.”

“Wanda” will be a key character in a story that is unfolding at Woodwalk Gallery this summer. Facilitated by resident artist Jodi Brey, the project asks the public to imagine and express a dream, goal or hope. Through direct participation in an installation within the gallery, as well as workshop participation, responses are being integrated into a narrative that will ultimately be presented as sculpture and/or performance on August 5.

Angela Neubauer will co-facilitate the camps. Neubauer has extensive choreography experience and has performed at numerous dance festivals across the country.

Pre-registration for NatureCreates! Camps is appreciated. Families and/or special groups can be accommodated. For more information or to register, visit http://www.thelegendagenda.com or call 920.868.2912.
