The Door County Community Foundation awarded the Door County YMCA a Sustainability Grant from the Children & Youth Fund. This grant provides financial assistance to Door County students who would like to participate in the Youth in Government program. “This exciting, hands-on experience of our government’s democratic process inspires and empowers students to take leadership roles in creating positive change in our community,” said Jane Stevenson, board member of the Door County Community Foundation.

The YMCA Youth in Government program is part of a statewide and nationwide program that engages hundreds of Wisconsin students every year. The program is available to all students in grades 7-12 and aims to enable young people to prepare for leadership through participatory training in the theory and practice of developing public policy.
