Zero Waste Program in Environmental Speaker Series

The 2009 Environmental Speaker Series, co-sponsored by Door Property Owners, Inc. (DPO) and Going Garbage & Recycling Inc. (GGRI), is pleased to announce the topic for its May program – the concept of Zero Waste and the State of Wisconsin’s effort to minimize global climate change. The May program is being presented by Steve Brachman, who works as a Waste Reduction Specialist for the University of Wisconsin-Extension. The program is set for 7 pm, Thursday, May 14, at Crossroads at Big Creek, Sturgeon Bay (2041 Michigan Street).

“It’s a pleasure to have Steve speak with the Door County community about Zero Waste,” says Elaine Van S. Carmichael, President of Door Property Owners. “There’s are some really great strides being taken in Wisconsin to dramatically reduce solid waste by focusing on materials such as food, wood, and electronic waste – and it’s wonderful to have someone at the forefront of this movement in Wisconsin come and talk to property owners about it.”

Other topics for the 2009 Speaker Series include Rain Gardens (June 11), and Invasive Species (July 15). For more information call Christi Decker at 920.854.2114.
