NWTC Diesel Students Benefit from Technically Advanced Engine

Students in the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) Diesel Program in Sturgeon Bay are now working on the latest technically advanced diesel engine. Thanks to Packer City International in Green Bay, NWTC bought a 2015 emissions compliant International N-13 engine at a reduced price, saving the College thousands.

The engine came out of a 2015 International truck that had been in an accident and damaged beyond repair, until Packer City International, with the help of NWTC alum Perry Bosetski ’79, brought it back to working order.

“This engine gives our students the capability to run, program, diagnose and understand repair procedures on the latest diesel technology that the industry has to offer,” said Jack Rein, NWTC diesel program instructor.

Two Packer City International employees also spent time on campus showing students the engine’s features and diagnostic capabilities that technicians need to use to work on it.

“Our students are a step ahead of other diesel program students in the state making them that much more employable,” said Jon Sowl, NWTC diesel program instructor.
