2008 Cherry Fest Schedule of Events

The picturesque village of Jacksonport will be the scene of the 14th annual Cherry Fest on Saturday, August 2. Beautiful Lakeside Park, on the shore of Lake Michigan, is the setting for this event, which is sponsored by the Jacksonport Historical Society (JHS). All proceeds will benefit the society, a local non-profit organization. Thank you for your support!

• 9 am – 4 pm: Bakery booth featuring fresh baked cherry kolaches, cherry pie and ice cream. The Jacksonport Women’s Club will also be making and serving fresh ‘hot on the spot’ funnel cakes. A variety of cherry jams, cherry pie filling and other cherry products by Dixie’s Home Style Preserves of Door County for sale to benefit the JHS at a booth nearby.

• 9 am – 4 pm: Juried arts and crafts fair featuring artists and craftsmen from the Midwest.

• 9 am – 4 pm: Historical review booth sponsored by the JHS booth will feature Jacksonport Family memorabilia on display and the society’s books for sale. The Root Cellar in the Erskine Rest Area will be open to the public. Take a step back in time and see the restored Root Cellar. Experience Pioneer Living pre-1840s with tepee and live demonstrations by Joe Jeanquart and Randy Alexander (blacksmithing, fire starting, cooking and leather work) in the Erskine Rest Area – sponsored by the Raibrook Foundation.

• 9 – 10:30 am: Birch Creek Ambassadors will perform.

• 10 am: Lunch booth opens with food and cold beverages provided by The Grilling Company.

• 10 am – 2 pm: Mayberry’s Wagon Rides ongoing from Lakeside Park on Park Road.

• 11 am – 1 pm: Matt Wahl, popular folk singer and songwriter, performs.

• 1 – 2 pm: The Doormen perform.

• 1 pm: Penny hunt on the beach for children ages 3 – 5 and 6 – 8 (registration begins at 12:30 pm).

• 2 – 4 pm: Mike Miller Band performs.

All musical performances will take place in the Big Tent. Picnic table seating around the tent will be available. Bring folding chairs or blankets for additional seating. Performance times may vary slightly.
