The 47th annual celebration of Jacksonport Maifest is taking place on May 25-26. Since 1973,  the Jacksonport Advancement Corporation, a non-profit organization committed to community benefit and enrichment, has hosted Door County’s unofficial summer kick-off festival at Lakeside Park, located at the intersection of County V and Highway 57.

Event highlights include the grand parade at 10:30am on Saturday, a juried arts and crafts fair beginning at 9am both days, live music in the performance tent both days, the Maifest 10K and two-mile fun run/walk at 9am on Sunday and the Frontier Farmers horse pull beginning at 1pm on Sunday at the ballpark.

The popular Maifest parade begins its 47th running at 10:30am on Saturday and will proceed through Jacksonport along Highway 57, from Cave Point Drive on the south end of town down past the Square Rigger Lodge on the north end of town.

Plenty of great food and beverages will be available throughout the weekend. The concession stand in Lakeside Park will offer brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, a corn roast, snacks and cold drinks. The Jacksonport Women’s Club food stand will offer homemade kolaches, cookies, funnel cake, deep fried cheese curds, ice cream, fresh fruit and coffee.

On Sunday morning it’s time to lace up your running shoes for the 37th annual Maifest 10K (6.2 miles) and two-mile fun run/walk with the start and finish at Lakeside Park located on beautiful Lake Michigan. The two-mile is an out and back course perfect for competitive runners as well as walkers, leisurely joggers, families and kids. The 10K race treks along N Cave Point Dr to the turnaround point at Clark Lake and returns along Lake Shore Rd. Registration is from 12-4pm on Saturday or from 7-8:30am Sunday at the concession stand in Lakeside Park. Registration includes a t-shirt, chip-timing and same day results.
