Teddy, a two-year-old spunky terrier mix, has an outgoing personality. Although his original owners had to surrender him due to a move out of the area, Teddy can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for him. He’s good with adults and teenagers, but the Humane Society is not recommending young children or cats in his new home. Teddy is very happy to go out on a walk at anytime. At 50 pounds, a few more walks every day would be a good thing for Teddy.

There are 21 cats walking around the shelter lobby right now – more than the Humane Society would like – but after a year or more in residence, a cage can get pretty darn cramped. Such is the case with Janet, a dilute calico lobby cat that came in from Sturgeon Bay on August 2, 2010. Janet is a big girl, but dainty and quiet. She prefers perching above the fray, observing the human and cat activity from a bit of a distance. Janet is only two to four years old and front declawed. She is part of the $50 adoption special going on right now.

Adoption costs are $85 for cats and kittens, $120 for dogs, and $60 for puppies. All animals are vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Dogs have had a behavioral assessment.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD)
in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit http://www.doorcountyhumanesociety.org.

Bark in the Park will take place Saturday, Aug. 27 at Sunset Park, Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay beginning at 9 am!
