If you want to see a Basset Hound in seventh heaven, play “keep away” with Serce. This seven-year-old girl is happy-go-lucky all the time, but being chased as she runs with a toy clutched in her mouth is her favorite. And those stubby legs can cover a surprising amount of ground!

Serce (cer-see) is a joy to be around. She’s an equal opportunity lover of people and other dogs. Her best pal at the shelter is Bleu, a Beagle/Basset mix. When her Ellison Bay family was not able to keep her, Serce was surrendered to the shelter. She has been around kids and adults all her life. With one look from those expressive brown eyes, she can cajole anyone into another game of keep away. Serce is the ideal family dog for someone looking for joyful companionship. The dog adoption fee is $150.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD – the road to Potawatomi State Park), Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.

There’s still time to snowmobile for a good cause tomorrow, Sat. Feb. 8, at the Door County Humane Society’s inaugural Snowmobile Poker Run. The event to raise money for animals in need at the shelter begins at 10 am at the Happy Hour in Valmy. For more information call 920.746.1111.
