Cats are complex characters…it’s a top reason they’re so intriguing. In the 12 months since the grand opening of the new Door County Humane Society facility some of these intelligent creatures don’t really care to be part of colonial society. Nine cats with us right now prefer the company of people rather than fellow felines. The DCHS staff accommodates their preference by creating individual apartments, but we know they yearn for the calm of a forever home. This month there is a special reduced adoption fee of $45 for the “single and loving it” cats including: Albie, Nefertiti, Boaz, Michelle, Millie, Alan, Quinn, and Rae Rae and Jasper (a bonded FIV+ pair). The “fat cat” reduced fee deal rolls over into September as well.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD – the road to Potawatomi State Park), Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.

The final DCHS brat fry for 2014 is scheduled for Sept. 6, 10 am – 2 pm, at Tadych’s EconoFoods in Sturgeon Bay.
