Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine, was German. A diesel engine runs and runs. Those two facts could be inspiration behind Diesel’s naming.

Diesel is a one-year-old German Wire-Hair Pointer mix who isn’t familiar with the concept of “chilling out.” Diesel loves to bury his toys in the snow, then dig them out. He’s ready to go for a walk or run anytime. His non-stop energy could overwhelm a younger child so Diesel is recommended for a home with adults and teenagers. The adjectives describing this breed: loyal, friendly, active, intelligent, affectionate, willful. To make sure Diesel reaches his true potential as an awesome dog, he will benefit from obedience training and an owner who is loving but firm. The dog adoption fee is $150.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD – the road to Potawatomi State Park), Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.

On Dec. 13, 10 am – 1 pm, there will be photos with Santa at the Door County Co-op in Sturgeon Bay. There’s a $10 suggested donation to go to the Door County Humane Society.
