Bat Programs at Peninsula State Park

Peninsula State Park will feature Ken and Barb Bowman, founders of Bat Conservation of Wisconsin, on Saturday, July 10 for a morning and evening program featuring Wisconsin bats.

From 10 – 11 am at the Nature Center, attendees will see a live bat, discover how bats survive, and create bat crafts. From 8:30 – 9:30 pm, the couple will host a “bat watch” at Welcker’s Shelter building. On average, over 500 bats emerge from bat houses near the shelter each evening to feast on mosquitoes.

The programs are free and open to the public, though a state park vehicle sticker is required. For more information call the Peninsula’s Nature Center at 920.854.5976.

The visit from Bat Conservation of Wisconsin is supported by a donation from Friends of Peninsula State Park. To learn more about the Bat Conservation of Wisconsin, visit http://www.batcow.org.
