Door Shakespeare (doorshakespeare.com) is hosting the return of Holidays on Ice – a reading of David Sedaris essays by Michael Stebbins, Door Shakespeare’s producing artistic director – Dec. 11, 7 pm, and Dec. 12, 2 pm, at Björklunden, 7590 Boynton Lane in Baileys Harbor. The reading is free, but donations are appreciated.
Stebbins will share three essays from Sedaris’ Holidays on Ice. “The Cow and the Turkey” is a tender story of barnyard animals who decide to share holiday presents by way of Secret Santa. “Front Row Center with Thaddeus Bristol” tells of eminent theater critic Thaddeus Bristol reviewing holiday theater fare on the stages of Door County elementary schools. “Dinah, the Christmas Whore” introduces listeners to angry holiday shoppers, bustling mall cafeterias, the wildly eccentric Sedaris family, a lit cigarette falling onto the carpeted floor of a moving automobile, thugs and robbers, and Dinah – a prostitute with a story to tell.
Masks and proof of vaccination (or a negative COVID-19 test taken within the past 72 hours) are required.
