Board of Supervisors Receive Donation for Cana Island Renovation

Museum Executive Director Bob Desh presented the $100,000 check to Supervisor Chuck Brann, chairman of the County Parks Committee, and Parks Director Eric Aleson.

The Door County Board of Supervisors recently voted to accept a $100,000 donation from the Door County Maritime Museum & Lighthouse Preservation Society, Inc. for “preservation, rehabilitation or restoration of Cana Island.” Passing unanimously, Resolution 2013-59 enabled the transfer of funds necessary for the County Parks Department and the Maritime Museum to move forward with vital restoration work at the historic Cana Island Light Station in Baileys Harbor. The resolution established the administrative process needed for the county to accept the donated funds. Museum Executive Director Bob Desh presented the $100,000 check to Supervisor Chuck Brann, chairman of the County Parks Committee, and Parks Director Eric Aleson.

Those interested in making a donation toward the restoration project can contact the Door County Maritime Museum at 920.743.5958 or dcmm.org.
