Bundy Picks the Right Club, Scores Hole-in-One

Doc Bundy is Door County’s latest to net a hole-in-one. It came on June 12 in the Cherry Hills 3-person scramble league. Starting on the 6th hole, Bundy felt like he was striking the ball well from the start.

Playing from a temporary tee box just 95 yards from the pin, Bundy took aim with his pitching wedge, hoping to swing soft enough to catch the green perfectly. He swung full, however, and is now thankful for doing so.

“I remember saying ‘be the right club,’” Bundy recalled. It was. One bounce and some spin off the slope of the green was all it took before the ball came resting against the pole in the cup.

Bundy said that the shot didn’t dawn on him until he received the bar tab later in the night.

“I determined that a hole-in-one is a changing experience in a golfers game, but the time to not get one is when you are playing in a league full of drinkers.”
