“Buy Local, Cook Local, Eat Local”

The 19th Annual Chefs for a Day event will be held Oct. 18 at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club. Doors will open at 6 pm and volunteer servers will distribute hors d’oeuvres from 6:30 until 7:15 pm. At 7:15 guests will be able to sample the entrees, served by each chef at numerous buffet stations. During the hors d’oeuvres, guests will have the opportunity to sample wines and cheese pairings.

The chefs were asked if they had fond memories of a special “down home favorite” dish, perhaps a dish that their mother, grandmother prepared, to prepare for the event. Whether it be an hors d’oeuvre, entrée or dessert, each chef will open up that recipe box or cookbook. The success of the “Buy Local, Cook Local, Eat Local” theme has been so well received the past two years that the chefs will try to have at least 50 percent of their ingredients either grown/produced locally or purchased locally.

Guests will have the opportunity to sample 45 gourmet dishes, including hors d’oeuvres, entrees and desserts during the evening’s event. Throughout the evening there will be a silent auction. All proceeds benefit United Way of Door County. Tickets are $45 each and advance purchase is encouraged. For more information or tickets call 920.746.9645 or visit unitedwaydc.com.
