Sturgeon Bay’s Cal Ripken Baseball program has become a true force in Wisconsin youth baseball. The 12-year-old tournament team clinched its second straight state championship 14-4 over Bayport on July 13, 2015.

The noon game got off to a great start for Sturgeon Bay. After the first inning Door County was leading 5-0 over Bayport Pirates. A grand slam by Alex Laughlin, a home run by Brandon Stillman and another lights out pitching performance by Robby Pollman was the winning equation in the 14-4 ten run rule win over the Bayport Pirates. Coach Rob Pollman was thrilled with his team’s effort all weekend.

Sturgeon Bay beat DC Everest Saturday and Bayport on Sunday before the rematch Monday. Sturgeon Bay went undefeated the whole tournament.

The local tournament team will represent the state in the Ohio Valley Regionals in Logansport, Ind., this weekend, July 23 – 26.
