Celebrate Wisconsin Foods with Terese Allen

Terese Allen, Wisconsin cookbook author and food columnist, will explore and celebrate Wisconsin’s food and culture in her presentation at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Ephraim on March 31 at 1:30 pm. The public is invited to attend, and a variety of Wisconsin foods will be available to sample.

Allen will share the stories behind (and recipes for) such varied food traditions as cream puffs, Hmong egg rolls, fish boils, and Old Fashioneds. From Ojibwa wild rice to arugula pesto pasta, Allen tracks the amazing cornucopias Wisconsinites have gathered, grown, produced, cooked, and eaten.

Allen is currently a food editor and columnist for Organic Valley Family of Farms, currently the largest organic farmers’ cooperative in the country. She is also food columnist for Edible Madison magazine and co-author of the prize-winning expanded edition of The Flavor of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Local Foods Journal 2012 is Allen’s most recent book, which she co-authored with Joan Peterson. This unique book is a week-by-week calendar that contains seasonal recipes, information on locally produced foods, and spotlights on area food vendors.
