Cherry Fest At Lakeside Park

The Jacksonport Historical Society’s 28th Cherry Fest will take place Aug. 5 at Lakeside Park beginning at 9 am, with beverages, food and homemade cherry kolaches for sale. Cherry pie and cherry sundaes will also be available.

An arts and crafts fair will also begin at 9 am, with vendors selling jewelry, photographs, food, clothing and more. The Herb Mueller Memorial Car Show will take place at the Erskine Rest Area, across from the park, for a $10 entrance fee. A People’s Choice award will be presented at 2 pm.

Take blankets and lawn chairs to listen to World on a String performing world folk tunes, gypsy jazz fiddle and pop standards at 10 am, and Modern Day Drifters are set to play toe-tapping country music, 12-4 pm.

Kids can participate in the penny hunt at the playground at 1 pm, as well as face painting. Registration for the penny hunt begins at 12:30 pm for ages 3-5 and 6-8. Also step back in time with a visit to the Erskine Root Cellar across from the park, where the Jacksonport Historical Society will be selling books and posters.
