Club Explores ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’

Third Avenue PlayWorks’ play-reading club will meet next on March 15, 3:30 pm, at the Sturgeon Bay Library to discuss Martin McDonagh’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane.

Set in the mountains of Connemara, County Galway, the work tells the darkly comic tale of Maureen Folan, a plain and lonely woman in her early forties; and Mag, her manipulative, aging mother, whose interference in Maureen’s first – and potentially last – loving relationship sets in motion a series of events that is as gothically funny as it is horrific.
