COMMUNITY FUNDING HELPS REPLACE CROSSROADS’ BRIDGES

Thanks to an outpouring of community support, Crossroads at Big Creek has raised the funds needed to replace the aging North Bridge and Cedar Crossing Bridge. The installation of helical pilings is expected before March 1, and as the work proceeds, short segments of the Creek and Forest Habitat Trails will be closed for much of the spring.

Donations to the bridge project are appreciated. Contribute online at crossroadsatbigcreek.org or by mailing a check to Crossroads at Big Creek, P.O. Box 608, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.

The Junior Nature Club – a group for preschool children, their caregivers and siblings, and other interested people – will meet next on Feb. 4, 10 am, when the topic will be shelters. All activities take place outside, including time for unstructured play, so bundle up.

The Ski for Free program is available every Saturday, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm, and Sunday, 12:30-3:30 pm, when conditions allow. Friends of Crossroads members and volunteers from Door County Silent Sports will help participants find the correct sizes of skis, boots, poles, snowshoes and kicksleds. Check crossroadsatbigcreek.org for current hours and conditions.Masks are recommended inside the buildings at Crossroads, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.
