Construction Update: Oct. 16

Hwy. 42, Forestville

Schedule: Aug. to Oct. 2015

Length: 0.05 Miles

Cost: $475,000

Location: Village of Forestville, between County X and County J.

Description of project: The project involves removing the existing box culvert and replacing it with a new bridge meeting current design standards for vehicular loading and structure design. Bridge approaches will be constructed, which include curb and gutter, asphalt pavement, storm sewer, signing and pavement marking.

Traffic impacts: Hwy. 42 will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. An approximately 3.5-mile detour from 42 to County X to County D to County J and back to 42 for northbound traffic and the reverse for southbound traffic will be established to maintain through traffic.

 

Hwy. 42, Sister Bay

Schedule: July 2015 to June 2016

Length: 0.8 miles

Cost: $5.8 million

Location: Village of Sister Bay, between Country Walk Drive to Scandia Road

Description: This project involves the reconstruction of Hwys. 42 and 57 in Sister Bay. The work includes traffic and erosion control, signing, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, curb and gutter, sidewalks, lighting, concrete and asphalt pavement, and landscaping.

Oct. 12-16: No work. All roadways open for Pumpkin Patch weekend and Fall Fest weekend.

Oct. 19-23: Crews plan to resume work on Monday, Oct. 19. They plan to remove the existing pavement from the northbound traffic lane of Hwy. 42 between Hwy. 57 and Scandia Road and follow that up with removal of the old storm sewer system, installation of the new storm sewer between Hwy. 57 and County ZZ, and grading of the northbound lane for concrete pavement between 57 and Scandia Road. Crews also plan to install storm sewer in Hwy. 42 south of Country Walk Drive.

Traffic Impacts: Hwy. 42 was opened to traffic beginning the morning of Oct. 8 through the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 19. Work is scheduled to resume the morning of Oct. 19, at which time some traffic will be detoured. Hwy. 42 northbound will remain open; 42 southbound will be closed. The southbound traffic detour is Scandia Road to Woodcrest Road to Old Stage Road to Hwy. 57 to Country Walk Drive to Hwy. 42. Hwy. 57 will also be closed. Traffic will be detoured for both northbound and southbound traffic. The detour will be Hwy. 57 to Country Walk Drive to Hwy. 42. Pedestrians please be aware that crews plan to work on the east side of Hwy. 42, including removal of the existing sidewalk along that side of the roadway. Hwy. 57, Brussels

Schedule: Sept. 2015 to Nov. 2015

Length: 0.5 Miles

Cost: $932,686

Location: Pine Road Mitigation Site and County C and WIS 57 intersection.

Description of project: The project involves mitigation site maintenance at the Pine Road Mitigation Site and constructing J-turns at the intersection of County C and Hwy. 57. Work includes traffic and erosion control, asphalt pavement, grading, base aggregate, concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, storm sewer, pavement marking, lighting and weir expansion.

Traffic impacts: Hwy. 57 may be reduced to one lane in both directions from Sunday at 9 pm to Friday at noon. Median crossing of County C at Hwy. 57 is closed. Drivers who wish to turn left on County C or cross Hwy. 57 on County C will use the newly constructed J-turns.
