Danielle French & Kory Murphy Embark on Tour

In 2012 Danielle French traveled from Canada to Sturgeon Bay, to attend three separate songwriting intensives at the Holiday Music Motel. In the intensives, dozens of songwriters from across the country spend a week at the motel and “spin the bottle” to receive co-writing partners to write and record new material.

French and Kory Murphy (who “spun” on each other) have written several songs together over the past year and are embarking on their first tour together in March 2013. For most shows they will be perform individual sets, backing each other up at times.

French is an award-winning singer/songwriter who has toured extensively throughout North America. Her previous recordings feature an impressive list of guest musicians including Burton Cummings, Matthew Good and Martin Tielli. She has co-written music for theatre and her songs have been featured in film and television.

Kory Murphy

Taking his inspiration to be a solo artist from many musicians such as Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith, Conor Oberst, Tom Waits, and Billie Holiday, Murphy developed his playing style while spending time in Europe. He often accompanies his thoughtful guitar strumming with a crisp harmonica sound and the steady beat of unconventional percussion instruments.

The tour concludes in Door County at Untitled Used & Rare Books in Sturgeon Bay on March 22 at 6 pm.

French will also host the weekly Saturday Open Mic Nights for the next few months at Mojo Rosa’s in Egg Harbor. Open mic begins at 7:30 pm.
