Daredevils Welcome to Labor Day Weekend Duathlon & 5k

The Door County YMCA dares you to get involved with the Door County YMCA’s Labor Day Duathlon and 5k run/walk on Aug. 31 as a participant, volunteer or spectator.

Festivities kick off with the duathlon – which includes a 2-mile run, 12-mile bike and 2-mile run – at 8 am, followed by the 5k run/walk at 9:45 am and finishing with the ½-mile children’s run at 10:15 am. Participants in the duathlon and 5k will be awarded age group awards and every participant in the children’s run will receive a medal.

Registration is currently open for all events. A price increase occurs after Aug. 15. Duathlon fees are: $40 through Aug. 15 and $45 thereafter; $60 for pairs registration. 5k run/walk fees are: $25 through Aug. 15 and $30 thereafter. Youth age 8 – 17 fees are $15 for the 5k event, and children up to age 8 are $10 for the children’s run.

Volunteers will be needed throughout the week in preparation for the event. Responsibilities include set-up at the Northern Door Program Center, registration on the day of the event, covering intersections along the bike course, assisting with the transition areas, and more.
