DCA Announces Final Installments of “Movies at the Door” Series

Door Community Auditorium (DCA) has announced the final installments of its popular winter “Movies at the Door” Series. Screenings take place at 7 pm and are free to the public; freewill donations are accepted and encouraged.

On Feb. 22, Bully, a 2011 documentary film about bullying in U.S. schools, will be screened. Directed by Lee Hirsch, the film follows the lives of five students who face bullying on a daily basis.

Undefeated is the 2011 Academy Award winner for Best Documentary Feature, and it will be screened on March 1. Undefeated, directed by Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Martin, documents the struggles of a high school football team as they attempt to complete a winning season after years of losses.

The Lecture Series also continues with “Miraculous Beginnings: Examining the Birth Narratives of the Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad” on Feb. 23 at 9 am.

In the lecture, Dr. Mara Brecht, assistant professor of religious studies at St. Norbert College, will explore the familiar birth narrative of Jesus and its resonances with the birth stories of Buddha and Muhammad. Dr. Brecht will situate these stories within the broader context of religious tradition and reflect on their collective significance from a comparative theological perspective.

The lecture is free to the public (freewill donations encouraged). Refreshments from Base Camp Coffee Bar will be available for purchase.

The Door Community Auditorium is located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. More information call.920.868.2728 or visit http://www.dcauditorium.org.
