DCEDC Hosts Career Fair for 250 Eighth-Graders

Virtual-reality headsets, suture removal, yoga stretches, fingerprinting and banking trivia: These are just a few of the hands-on activities that about 250 eighth-graders from all five Door County school districts had the chance to experience at the career fair organized by Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC).

Twenty-one local businesses and organizations created interactive and educational exhibits, provided information about career opportunities in their industry, and chatted with students about what a typical workday is like, education and training requirements, and what they like best and least about their jobs.

Industries represented at the career fair included health care, wellness, manufacturing, home construction, banking, art, public safety, public utilities, IT services, the military and tourism. DCEDC organizes the event each year to help students explore and learn more about career opportunities, particularly those in Door County. Stone Harbor Resort hosted the career fair.
