“Deck the Halls with Art”

“Mom’s Mittens,” watercolor by Bridget Austin

As its 25th anniversary year draws to a close, the Door County Art League (DCAL) will celebrate its history and traditions with a winter/holiday-themed exhibit entitled “Deck the Halls with Art” from Nov. 12 to Dec. 28 at the Miller Art Museum (MAM) in Sturgeon Bay.

Reflecting the spirit of the season, “Deck the Halls” will feature two and three-dimensional art in a wide range of media from 68 art league members. Over 150 new works (never before exhibited) will be on display, including oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics and multi-media creations. Many items will be offered for sale.

The exhibit will open with a reception and awards ceremony on Nov. 12 from 2 to 4 pm at the Miller Art Museum. The reception is free and open to the public. Jurors’ awards will be presented at 2:30 pm. Jurors for this year’s exhibit are Bren Sibilsky, David Frykman and Lynn Gilchrist.

The reception will culminate with the announcement of the newest artist to join the ranks of the legion of Door County Master Artists.

The museum’s Holiday Boutique expanded gift shop will also be open with an array of unique items for holiday giving. This exhibition is sponsored by Dr. Dennis & Bonnie Connolly, Carol Hobson, and Carl & Lorraine Mengert.

DCAL membership is available to all persons interested in promoting and enjoying the creative arts in Door County. For more information visit http://www.doorcountyartleague.org.

The MAM, open Monday from 10 am – 8 pm and Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm, is located at 107 S. 4th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay.
