Door County Artists to Teach at ARTgarage

The ARTgarage in Green Bay is hosting a number of art workshops this fall, including a two-day “Plein Air in Pastel” workshop with Door County artists Liz Maltman and Mary White, and a painting class with Craig Bleitz.

White and Maltman are atypical plein air painters. They prefer pastels (or acrylics) to oils for spontaneity and brilliance of color. They also work in a larger format than other plein air artists working in oil.

“Plein Air in Pastel” will be held Sept. 17 and 18, 9 am – 4 pm, and includes visits to Lambeau Field and Bay Beach/Wildlife Sanctuary. White and Maltman’s practical and original ideas on materials, technique, color and composition will inspire and challenge participants.

Also, Craig Bleitz will teach “Painting and the Art of Visual Selection” on December 8, 8 am – 4 pm. This workshop allows students to work from a still life and exercise their compositional and design decision-making skills in their medium of choice.

The ARTgarage, located at 1400 Cedar Street, is a non-profit arts organization in Green Bay, housed in an historic building in the Olde Main District.
