Door County Community News: Holiday Home Tour Returns

Treat yourself to an early Door County Christmas this Thanksgiving weekend as Northern Door Children’s Center hosts its Third Annual Holiday Home Tour. The self-guided tour includes five decorated homes and Immanuel Lutheran church, where an old-fashioned Bake Shoppe awaits. The tour begins Friday, November 28, 4 – 8 pm, and continues on Saturday, November 29, 10 am – 4 pm. All proceeds from the $20 ticket sales go toward the NDCC’s non-profit care and early childhood education and Gibraltar area schools.

Each home on this year’s tour is unique and, for the first time, a noted B&B is on the map. At each stop, there will be a special treat: Santa himself will greet you at one door, you’ll hear carols played on a vintage piano at another, and learn about the Santa Lucia ceremony at yet another.

The featured tour stops this year include: The Hermitage/Erickson Family Home, 8519 Hwy 42, Juddville; Eagle Harbor Inn/The Neddersen Family Home, 9914 Water St., Ephraim; Maiden’s Light/The Pearson Family Cottage, 2928 Valentine Lane, Ephraim; the Szakala Family Home, 2603 Grove Road, Baileys Harbor; the Nordahl Residence, 8523 Schultz Lane, Baileys Harbor; and Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7973 Hwy 57, Baileys Harbor.

Each stop on the tour offers a unique vision of Christmastime in Northern Door. While getting in the holiday spirit, visitors can take in some decorating ideas for their own home-style Christmas celebrations. The Northern Door Children’s Center Holiday Home Tour on Thanksgiving weekend is a perfect way to start the holidays.

Visitors can buy tickets in advance at Northern Door Children’s Center in Sister Bay, online at http://www.northerndoorchildrenscenter.org, or at participating business locations. Tickets may also be purchased at any of the homes during tour hours. The tour’s ticket includes a map and information on each home, allowing visitors to choose their own route and remain at each home as long as they’d like.
