Door County Milk Depot Will Start Accepting Donations Nov. 20

The Door County Medical Center’s (DCMC) new Milk Depot is looking for community members to donate breast milk for inpatient babies at DCMC and the greater northeastern Wisconsin region. It will begin accepting donor milk Nov. 20.

“I can’t fully express how much it means to be able to provide this service right here at Door County Medical Center,” said lactation consultant Jessica Skinner. “Becoming a donor is an essential part of making this service available to families in our community.”To donate, contact the Mother’s Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes at 847.262.5134, [email protected] or online at milkbanknwgl.org. The organization has a screening process that includes an application, phone interview and blood testing at no cost to the donor. After a successful screening, a donor receives a donor number that allows the milk to be tracked in the system. Then drop off milk at DCMC’s Milk Depot to be shipped to the milk bank, where it is batched and pasteurized. Donated milk is available for purchase through HSHS St. Mary’s in Green Bay.
