Dude, Donk Exhibit!

The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative (SBSI) is holding an art opening and auction at Glas, the Green Coffeehouse, in Sturgeon Bay on Jan. 7 from 3 – 7 pm. Featured art will include over 20 skateboards and longboards hand-painted by local artists including Tim Nyberg, Lynn Gilchrist, Ernest Buetel, Ram Rojas, Karin Miller Knutson and more.

A silent auction will be held for the skateboard creations. The auction will run throughout the month of January, ending on Jan. 27, with “Buy it Now” incentives at the opening on Jan. 7. All money raised will help fund the construction of a public skatepark located next to the West Side Ball Field.

SBSI is a group of skaters, parents and businesses that have teamed up with the Sturgeon Bay Park and Recreation Department to create a safe public place for skateboarders of all levels to recreate. BMX bikes will be welcomed at the skatepark as well. The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark is a component fund of the Door County Community Foundation.

Glas carries Skaters’ Blend coffee beans for sale and donates a portion of the proceeds to the skatepark fund. Glas will be providing food and beverages at the art opening with a portion of proceeds benefiting SBSI.
