Egg Harbor Launches Fundraiser Drone

The Egg Harbor Fire Department is raising money for a tool that’s not readily available for Door County emergency responders: a drone.

“This will be a first for us,” said Kurt Krauel, who’s leading the fundraising campaign with his wife, Nicole, one of the department’s EMRs (emergency medical responder). “We’ll use it for search and rescue, better views of fires, and it will be available for all our mutual aid partners.”

The drone will cost $32,000 and they’re already a little over halfway to raising all the money. What’s giving them a big boost is a matching challenge from Parv and Renu Jandu, owners of the BP north of Carlsville, who will match up to $10,000 raised.

That match, however, will end soon. Potential are asked to get their charitable contributions in by Monday, Oct. 9.

If that’s not possible, donations will still be accepted until all the money is raised. May checks payable to the Egg Harbor Firefighters Association, and mail to the Egg Harbor Town Hall, 5421 County Road I, Sturgeon Bay, 54209.
