Luckily the recent firing filled the gallery shelves with new mugs. John Dietrich, resident potter and Ellison Bay Pottery owner, believes the handle is the most important part of a mug. It’s got to feel good in your hand, like it belongs there, Dietrich said. It takes years and years of practice and attention to details like these that make Dietrich’s mugs as good as they are and collected by generations of families.
