Evenings in Ephraim Continue

With four weeks down and four to go, Ephraim’s “Evenings in Ephraim” is seeing much success in its infancy. This Monday night promotional series has expanded since the summer of 2007, its inaugural year which consisted solely of weekly concerts in the village. This summer, it not only celebrates local musical talent with free weekly concerts in Harborside Park but also offers late night shopping, dining and activities throughout Historic Ephraim.

“This year we’ve added 27 participating Ephraim businesses, all staying open until 8 pm or later on Monday nights,” said Debbie Krause, owner of the Bay Breeze Resort and co-Vice President of the Ephraim Business Council, which sponsors the series. “The positive response from business owners is very exciting, as we’re hoping to expand on our late night promotions in the future. I’ve also gotten great feedback from my guests.”

Business participation for “Evenings in Ephraim” is not concentrated just in the downtown area of Ephraim but spreads to the far north and south ends of the village – sure to keep shoppers, diners and activity-goers content for hours. There’s nothing like a great meal, a good buy and a beautiful sunset, which visitors are sure to find in Ephraim.

On the concert end of the promotional series, the picturesque view of Eagle Harbor from Ephraim’s newly remodeled Harborside Park provides the perfect setting for a relaxing evening concert in the Village.

“The nature accompanies the music perfectly,” said Jana Nyberg, lead singer of the Jana Nyberg Group, who opened the concert series on June 30. “The natural surroundings fueled our creativity and provided quintessential ambiance for our music.”

Musicians, under the shelter of a quaint white gazebo play to an audience scattered across the lawn on chairs, blankets and benches. Parents can enjoy the music as their children explore the new playground equipment. Next door at Wilson’s Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor, patrons emerge cones in hand and drift toward the music.
