Family Sickened After Manure Spreading

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Door County Public Health Department are investigating whether manure spreading on a farm near Jacksonport contaminated a nearby well, causing gastro-intestinal illness for the family living there.

“There was manure spreading and it went into a sinkhole,” said Public Health Director Rhonda Kolberg. “We were notified Monday (Sept. 15). The spreading, I guess, occurred on the 8th and 9th. The family’s water started to get brown and foamy, and then they started to have some GI illness. We’re working with the family, trying to find out what could have been the cause of the illness.”
